7:00 p.m. Doylestown Tennis Club As in the past, round robin
tennis will follow the meeting. Members are asked to bring a

YOUR ATTENDANCE and VOTE
at this meeting is needed for proposed changes to the BRC by- laws. We
need at least 30% of the members in good standing, both certificate and
non-certificate holders (those paying on the installment plan), to be present for a quorum, in order to conduct a
vote to change the by-laws. The Proposed by-laws changes are available
here.
A Summary of the significant
proposed changes to the By-Laws
is as follows:
• Non-certificate members can serve on the Board of Directors (Arts II & III)
• Clarifies the types of membership and the rights of each type of member: Certificate
Member vs. Non-certificate member vs. Extended Junior Member as well as the rights
of a Certificate Member who no longer pays dues (Art IV & V) • For all Certificate Members joining the Club in 2012 and later: their membership shall
end if they don’t pay any dues for 5 consecutive years (Art. VI) • Clarifies the consequences of a member who persistently violates Club Rules and
Regulations (Art. VII)
• Allows Certificate Members to vote (via proxy) on Club business without requiring
them to be physically present at a meeting (Art. VIII & XIV)
• Notice in all matters shall be via e-mail (Art. XIII, & X)
• Clarifies that only Certificate Members who are current on their dues can vote and
comprise a quorum (Art. X, XI, XII & IV, V)
To encourage your attendance
and participation in voting on the proposed changes to the BRC by-laws, a
raffle will be held during our annual meeting. The prize is 1 “Free BRC
Membership for 2012". Note: The raffle will apply only if a quorum is present
and a vote is taken.
Any questions to the proposed changes should be addressed to
Joe Visco.
'We're not in Kansas anymore' department
As the good folks of Bucks County drive around town, it's not unusual to see
raccoons, groundhogs, skunks and the like along the roads. But for club president
Tom Isaacson, who has been on work assignment in Kenya for
much of the past year, he's just as likely to come across the odd lion or 2 which was the case in a recent drive-by photo op
when he bagged the beast in the image to the left. Tom is finishing up his Kenya tour and is looking forward to returning to the relative safety of BRC
and environs where facing a wicked tennis serve poses the greatest danger -
and he seems to handle those pretty well.
Solar Power for BRC?
Results of the solar power survey are below.; This topic has been tabled for
further discussion by the Board of Directors for 2012.
